A delightful twist on classic French toast, infused with warm tagine spices and drizzled with a sweet and tangy orange syrup. Perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream (if using), sugar, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, saffron threads (if using), and orange zest.
Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and let it melt.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated. Let the excess drip off.
Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot griddle or skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
While the French toast is cooking, prepare the orange syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice and honey. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in the orange blossom water (if using).
Serve the Moroccan tagine-spiced French toast immediately, drizzled with the warm orange syrup.

For a richer flavor, soak the bread in the egg mixture for a longer time (10-15 seconds per side).
Garnish with fresh orange slices, chopped pistachios, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Adjust the spices to your liking. For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Leftover French toast can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet before serving.
