A sweet and nutty bread flavored with tahini and walnuts, perfect for breakfast or a snack. This Turkish-inspired treat is sure to delight your taste buds!
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add the warm milk and vegetable oil and mix until a dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, mix together the tahini and honey. Set aside.
Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 12-inch rope.
Twist the two ropes together to form a braid.
Place the braid on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with the tahini-honey mixture and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
In a small bowl whisk the egg with the water to create an egg wash. Brush the bread with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
