A flavorful twist on classic hummus, infused with warm and aromatic tagine spices, served with warm pita bread and a drizzle of olive oil. Perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap pita bread in foil and warm in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until heated through.
While the pita is warming, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, tagine spice blend, salt, and optional harissa paste in a food processor.
Process until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lemon juice, or spice blend.
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of tagine spice blend (optional).
Serve immediately with warm pita bread.

For a smoother hummus, peel the skins off the chickpeas before blending.
The tagine spice blend can be adjusted to your taste preference. If you don't have a pre-made blend, you can mix your own using cumin, coriander, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, paprika, and a pinch of cayenne.
Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley for added freshness.
Store leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
