A Japanese twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring ladyfingers soaked in matcha and a creamy mascarpone filling. This Matcha Tiramisu offers a delightful balance of sweetness, bitterness, and creamy richness.
**Prepare the Matcha Soak:** In a bowl, whisk together the 2 tablespoons of matcha powder, hot water, and sugar until the matcha is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
**Prepare the Mascarpone Filling:** In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese and granulated sugar together with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, whip the cold heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
**Assemble the Tiramisu:** Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled matcha mixture for a few seconds per side. Do not over-soak, or they will become too soggy.
Arrange a layer of matcha-soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of your baking dish or individual serving cups.
Spread half of the mascarpone filling evenly over the ladyfingers.
Repeat layers: Add another layer of matcha-soaked ladyfingers and spread the remaining mascarpone filling on top.
**Chill:** Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the tiramisu to set.
**Garnish:** Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with the remaining 1 tablespoon of matcha powder. Garnish with white chocolate shavings, if desired.
**Serve:** Enjoy your Matcha Tiramisu cold!

For a stronger matcha flavor, use a higher grade of matcha powder and increase the amount slightly in the soaking liquid.
Do not over-soak the ladyfingers, as they will become too soft and the tiramisu will be soggy.
The tiramisu can be assembled up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
For a smoother filling, ensure the mascarpone cheese is at room temperature before mixing.
To make it vegan, use vegan ladyfingers, vegan mascarpone cheese, and coconut cream whipped into stiff peaks.
