A delicious fusion dessert featuring a creamy apple crumble filling made with rich Jersey milk, encased in baked samosa pastry and dusted with fragrant cardamom sugar.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat.
In a separate small bowl, combine flour and cubed cold butter. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the flour mixture to the apple mixture. Stir gently to combine. Stir in the Jersey milk.
To assemble the samosas: Take one samosa pastry sheet and cut it in half lengthwise. Take one strip, fold over to form a cone. Fill the cone with approximately 1-2 tablespoons of the apple crumble mixture. Seal the samosa by brushing the edges with a little water and pressing firmly to close, forming a triangle shape.
Repeat with the remaining pastry sheets and apple crumble mixture.
Brush the assembled samosas with melted butter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
While the samosas are baking, prepare the cardamom sugar. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cardamom.
Once the samosas are out of the oven, let them cool slightly. Dust them generously with the cardamom sugar. Serve warm.
