A summery twist on the classic South African Bobotie, formed into patties and grilled to perfection, topped with a refreshing mango salsa.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Soak the bread in milk until softened. Squeeze out the excess milk and crumble the bread into a large mixing bowl.
Add the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, curry powder, turmeric, garam masala, ground coriander, chutney, raisins, egg, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the bread. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties about 1 inch thick.
In a separate bowl, prepare the mango salsa: Combine the diced mango, red onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and olive oil. Mix well and set aside.
Grill the bobotie patties for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and nicely browned.
Serve the grilled bobotie burgers on burger buns (optional), topped generously with the mango salsa.

For a richer flavor, brown the onion and garlic in a little oil before adding them to the meat mixture.
Adjust the amount of curry powder and jalapeño to your preferred spice level.
If you don't have a grill, you can pan-fry the patties in a little oil until cooked through.
Serve with a side of rice or a green salad for a complete meal.
The mango salsa can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
