A comforting apple crumble featuring the unique flavor of Jersey Black Butter, topped with a crisp oat crumble and served with cool crème fraîche.
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Peel, core, and slice the apples into approximately 1cm thick slices.
In a bowl, toss the apple slices with the Jersey Black Butter and lemon juice.
Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Rub the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients using your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a dollop of crème fraîche.

For a nuttier flavor, add a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans to the crumble topping.
If the crumble topping starts to brown too quickly, cover the baking dish loosely with foil.
This crumble is also delicious served with vanilla ice cream or custard instead of crème fraîche.
For a richer crumble topping, replace some of the oats with almond flour.

"Pairs perfectly with this dessert"

A light and refreshing salad featuring fresh Jersey crab, crisp apples, and a tangy cider vinaigrette. Perfect as a starter to balance richer main courses like lamb shanks.
"This light and refreshing salad offers a delicate counterpoint to the richness of the lamb shanks. The sweetness of the apple and the delicate crab complement the savoury depth of the lamb, while the cider vinaigrette provides a bright acidity that cuts through the richness, preparing the palate for the main course."
