Can You Use Air Fryer To Cook Frozen Food?

This is a question I hear/get asked often and the answer is absolutely! Frozen foods turn out AMAZING in the Air Fryer. It’s my preferred cooking element over the microwave, even though it takes a few minutes longer. Air Fryer Burrito for the win!!

Some of you might be wondering what the  benefits are to using an Air Fryer for frozen burrito when you can pop them in the microwave for less than two minutes and be done. I’ll tell ya….

✅Cook up to 6 at a time vs 2 (depends on your Air Fryer Model, obvs).

✅Evenly cooked interiors vs hitting cold pockets the microwave left behind.

✅No soggy tortilla!! Ugh. The. Worst.

With that out of the way you’re probably asking yourself this…..

How Long Do You Cook Frozen Burritos In The Air Fryer?

It takes 15 minutes to cook these bad boys in the air fryer. Pre-heat the air fryer while you’re un-packaging the burritos and cook away. Air Fryer Frozen Burrito times are pretty consistent for any burrito 6 oz or under. For burritos over 6 oz you may need to add an extra 2-3 minutes of cooking time.

How Do You Cook A Frozen Burrito In An Air Fryer

This air fryer recipe couldn’t be easier: Unwrap. Air Fry. Flip Twice. Top With Your Favorite Toppings. Grub Down. You don’t even need to spray the basket or burritos with cooking spray.

Best Way to Re-heat a Burrito

If you’re working with a refrigerated burrito (non-frozen burrito) and are just looking to re-heat it, wrap it in aluminum foil (to avoid a dry and hard tortilla), set the air fryer to 325° F and air fry for about 12-15 minutes, depending on how thick your burrito is.  This is how we reheat a Chiptole Burrito and reheat a Taco Bell Burrito.

Air Fryer Onion Rings

Finally, we can enjoy crispy, crunchy onion rings without a vat of oil!

We love air fryer recipes because they come out so crispy and are so easy to make! The air fryer needs less oil, creates fewer fat calories, and plus it takes less time. What’s not to love?

Ingredients

ONIONS We like large, sweet onions like Vidalias, but if Walla Wallas are available, those are the best!

FLOUR This simple dredge adds seasoning but most of all helps the coating stick to the onions.

BUTTERMILK & EGG This helps the crumbs stick. If you don’t have buttermilk, cream or milk will work.

PANKO Panko bread crumbs have more crunch for a crispy coating. If you only have regular bread crumbs, those work too.

Make a double batch of these beauties, because you can be sure that they will disappear in no time!

  1. Cut onions into ½ inch slices and separate the rings.
  2. Combine flour, seasoned salt, & cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Whisk eggs in another bowl until they are frothy. Stir breadcrumbs, oil, & cornmeal in another bowl.
  4. Dip each ring into eggs, flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, then place in the preheated air fryer.

  1. Fry rings in a single layer until golden brown & crispy on the outside, about 12 to 15 minutes.
  2. Remove onion rings from the air fryer & sprinkle with seasoned salt. Serve immediately.

Can you Freeze Onion Rings?

Freeze cooked and cooled onion rings in a zippered bag with the date labeled on the outside. They’ll keep fresh for up to 8 weeks in the freezer.

Cook from frozen in the air fryer.
